Dr. Larry Wilson Laudig passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017, at home in Pendleton. He was born March 17, 1936, in Anderson, Ind., to George B. and Velma Juanita (Riggs) Laudig.
He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1954. He then attended Michigan State University where he received his B.S. degree in 1958 and his DVM from the School of Veterinary Medicine in 1960. He married his wife Sondra Kay (Sibbach) Laudig in 1957.
He began practice briefly in Lapel, then in McCordsville. He was drafted into the Army in 1962 and served two years stationed in San Francisco at the Presidio. After his discharge he worked as a government meat inspector in Madison, Wisc. for a year. But he wanted to practice, so he returned to McCordsville and established a mixed practice in 1965. After five years he stopped the large (farm) animals and did only small (pets) animals until he retired on December 31, 1997.
He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard. He also enjoyed genealogy and wrote a book about his Laudig ancestry. He enjoyed making pottery too.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra (Sonnie); his children, Melinda (Jeff) Haraldson, Bret (Sheila) Laudig, Jack (Christine) Laudig, and Amanda Laudig, Ph.D. and her husband, David Hammontree, Ph.D. He also leaves five granddaughters, Vanessa (Marco Garcia) Radcliff, Stephanie Radcliff, Amelia Laudig, Madeline Laudig and Adrianne Laudig. Also are four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kevin, T.J., and Anais. Other survivors are his sister, Ann Couey; nephew Dr. Bert I. Davis; and nieces, Lynn Somers and Joyce Crawford; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Mary Ruth Cady, James F. Laudig and Martha Jane Davis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, with a private burial following in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
