Jack C. Hanna, 93, of Pendleton passed away March 23, 2017, at the Rawlins House in Pendleton. He was born June 26, 1923, in Dayton, Ky., and was a former Indianapolis resident before moving to Pendleton in 1950.

He joined his father in his family business Contract Carriers for many years. Jack graduated from Tech High School, Indianapolis in 1941 and later Butler University where he received his bachelor’s degree.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II where he served as a naval aviator and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Jack was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Anderson and had his private pilot license and owned his own plane.

Survivors include sons, Mike (Carol) Hanna of Pendleton and Jeff (Gail) Hanna of Ludington, Michigan; halfbrother, Steve Hanna of Cupertino, California; grandsons, Chad (Shannon) Hanna and Cord Hanna; and Gail’s children, Bill Marsh and Nicole Powers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vivian Hanna; and his wife, June O. (Wright) Hanna.

Services and inurnment with military rites will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tech High School, Athletic Hall of Fame, 1500 E. Michigan St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46201.
