FRANKTON — The Lapel Bulldogs tennis squad made quick work of the Frankton Eagles Thursday, picking up the necessary three match wins before a thunderstorm washed out play.

Junior Maddie Shannon and senior Hannah Chinn picked up singles victories, and senior Emma Bush and junior Tonya Riffey were winners, and Lapel was leading in the other matches as well, as the Bulldogs improved to 4-2 on the year with a 3-0 win against the Eagles.

Shannon cruised past Emma Noble 6-2, 6-1 to improve her record to 5-1 this season as the No. 1 singles player. Chinn rolled past Chloe Simon 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 match, while junior Lauren Benagh led Sherrie Riser 6-1, 3-2 before the rain ended her match.

Bush and Riffey defeated Katie Finney and Caira Lefadhi 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while at the No. 2 slot, sophomore Emily Eppert and junior Mackenzie Richards were in control, just one game from finalizing a win, and leading 6-2, 5-1 when play was halted.

The Bulldogs will face Pendleton Heights at 5 p.m. Monday in a match at Mt. Vernon High School.
