Matthew Ellis Wand, 67, passed away on April 28, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Middletown after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer.

Matt was an active member of Markleville North Christian Church and served as an usher and greeter, and he happily cooked for the men’s group.

Matt worked at JB Electronics spray painting parts, then at Mitchell & Scott as a screw machine operator and production control clerk. He worked his way through IVY Tech, earning an associate degree in Computer Technology with a straight A average. Beginning in 1985 he worked his way up from the maintenance crew as a contractor at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center to work for CSC, EDS and HP until he retired in 2015. He was a wonderful provider for his family and also blessed many others.

Matt was a master tinkerer; he was creative and clever. His sense of humor, hard-working nature and love of Alaska reality shows will never be forgotten.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Marilyn (Harless) Wand; his children, Angela (James) Lunsford and Tyler (Becca) Wand; siblings, Adrianne Mauser and Tim (Kim) Wand; along with many nieces and nephews.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethel (Williamson) Wand; and siblings, Claudia Welch and Barry Wand.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 4, at Markleville North Christian Church, Markleville, IN. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5, at the church. Burial will take place at the Huntsville Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be sent to Markleville North Christian Church.
