PENDLETON — Where’s “Abstract Annie?”

The Pendleton Artists Society wants the public to be on the lookout for the collaborative mixed media piece that was winner of the People’s Choice Choice Award in a recent show at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.

Those who see “Abstract Annie” around town and stop by the gallery to report their sighting will be entered into a drawing for limited edition print of downtown Pendleton by artist Jane Langdon.

“She (“Abstract Annie”) is described as tall with hair curled in coils,” reads a description from Gallery 119, where the artist society is based. “She has a lovely, colorful spectrum face with bright eyes and tattoos on her arm. She was last seen wearing an artist apron with various art supplies in one of her pockets and a small puppy in the other. She always carries her art palette with her in case she sees anything that inspires her to paint.”

Kathleen Hays, an art society member who does publicity work for the group, said the life-size creation will appear at various businesses around town, and the idea of the project is to get people engaged with art and exploring town.

“Abstract Annie” appeared on the front page of the March 9 edition of the Times-Post, posing with three of her four creators – art society President Jerry Wymer and fellow artists Kitty Myers and Sharon Robinson. Katy Burke also helped create the piece.
