ANDERSON — Lapel junior forward Bree Boles took part in the Indiana Class Basketball All-Star Classic Friday, June 16, at Anderson University.

While many of her Class 1A and 2A teammates and opponents are still weighing college decisions, Boles does not have that concern anymore after deciding to attend Indiana State when her playing career ends. As a result, she was loose, laughing and enjoying herself on the court.

Boles scored nine of her 11 points in the first half and grabbed six rebounds as her White team knocked off the Red team, 71-48.

After reopening her recruitment by rescinding her commitment to Indiana University last year, Boles had been bombarded by offers from better than 10 schools. Recently, she decided to join the Sycamores in Terre Haute and said having that decision behind her helps her to better enjoy an event like the all-star game.

“I was out here to just have fun and meet some new people that I haven’t played with before, and a couple people that I haven’t played with in a really long time, like Sydney (Tucker),” she said. “It was really a fun day.”

Frankton’s Tucker led all scorers on the day with 12 points. After struggling in the first half on just 1-7 shooting, the Eagle star was 3-4 in the second half, including 3-3 from 3-point range, and grabbed four steals. Boles said she enjoyed wearing the same jersey as her former middle school teammate.

“It was actually fun, because we’re super, super close,” Boles said. “We had this telepathy since fourth grade, and it never went away. It was really fun and good to get back on the court with her because she’s a great player, and I know she’s going to go far.”

Spending much of the game smiling and laughing, Boles said sharing the court with so many talented players was one of the more enjoyable aspects of the event.

“The people out here are the best players around; you’re not going to be out here unless you’re good,” she said. “Playing against the best girls around is definitely fun. Knowing they’re going to come out here and compete, it was a good game, and I definitely enjoyed it.”
