Earl Thomas “Tom” Coverdale, 93, Lapel, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at Community Hospital of Anderson following an extended illness. Born on March 11, 1924, in Anderson, to Earl Franklin and Edna Elvira (Monks) Coverdale Rhody.

Survived by three children, Jane Coverdale of Anderson, Toby (Tim) Thomas of Chesterfield, and Sheila (Michael) Rogers of Chesterfield, a stepson, Buzz (Marcia) Anderson of Anderson; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Cathy Lynn Bowyer, and Brenda Whetsel; a grandson, Derek; two sisters, Molly Hughes and Phyllis Brizendine.

Visitation will be from Noon to 2 p.m., Monday, June 19, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 Main North St, Lapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 19, at the funeral home with Pastor William Garver officiating. Burial will follow in Bronnenberg Cemetery.
