PENDLETON — Studio 3 Music Academy and the Pendleton Artists Society are teaming up to play host to the Pendleton Music and Art Festival on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Falls Park and in downtown Pendleton.

Throughout the day, there will be plenty of local music to entertain festivalgoers. The plan is to have from two to four stages for live music, with the main stage being at the gazebo in the park.

A singing contest, dubbed “Pendleton Idol,” will take place on the main stage. At 11 a.m., contestants in the 11-and-under and adult divisions will perform, followed by the 12- to 18-year-old division at 2:30 p.m. Winners for these age groups will be announced immediately following the completion of the performances in each division.

The 12-18 division is full of registrants, but at press time, the 11-and-under and adult categories still had openings. Entry fee is $15, and details are available at www.studio3musicacademy.com.

While the festival wraps up at 4 p.m., the music will continue in the park with free concerts featuring Studio 3 student bands, That Indy Band, The Walker Band and Nashville recording artist Kimberly Wolff. During the concert, there will be a pork dinner and beer garden in the park.

Music will not be the only art form on display Saturday. Local artists will show and sell their work, local authors will be featured, and children can get involved in the Kids’ Zone with face and rock painting, tile and bag decorating, bounce houses and more.

Local food vendors will be on hand. Concertgoers can enjoy lunch or dinner from Greeks, FoxGardin, or local food trucks Pork Paradise and Ribs Express. A new smoothie vendor from Anderson, BerryWise Smoothies, will also be present.
