PENDLETON — The Town of Pendleton has scheduled a public hearing on Aug. 24 to discuss the town’s application to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to obtain $500,000 to rehabilitate the facades of five downtown structures, to add wayfinding signage, and to add outdoor speakers to existing lamp posts in the downtown area.

The town is working with several local organizations on this project, including Main Street Pendleton; Historic Fall Creek, Pendleton Settlement; the South Madison Community Foundation; and the Pendleton Artists Society.

The application for funds is part of the 2015 Pendleton Downtown Revitalization Plan.
Pendleton is competing with four other applicants for the funds: Brazil, Georgetown, Cicero and Vincennes.

The announcement of the winner of the funds is expected around Nov. 1.
