Two injured in crash Thursday morning

SOUTH MADISON COUNTY — Two people are in critical condition after a two-car collision Thursday morning on U.S. 36 northeast of Markleville.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, evidence at the scene and witness statements show that, at about 7:15 a.m., a 2012 Ford Focus traveling westbound from County Road 500 East drifted into the eastbound lane several times before colliding head-on with an eastbound 2009 Chevy Impala.

Kylar McCrobie, 18, New Castle, the driver of the westbound vehicle, was in critical condition and transported to St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street in Indianapolis.

Kristine M. Sidwell, 50, Anderson, the driver of the eastbound vehicle, was in critical but stable condition and being treated for a fracture to her left femur. She also was transported to St. Vincent on 86th Street.

There were no other people in the vehicles.

The investigation is ongoing.
