Lapel girls hoops wins third in a row

LAPEL — Led by a 30-point performance from senior Breanne Boles, the Lapel girls basketball team moved to 3-1 on the season with a 69-42 win against Alexandria-Monroe on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
It was the Bulldogs’ third-straight win, and the 27-point margin of victory was the closest in that stretch.
Alexandria (3-3) played an even game with Lapel early as the two were knotted at 11-11 in the first quarter. Lapel went on an 11-1 run to end the quarter and didn’t the lose the lead for the rest of the night.
Boles scored her 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting, and she’s now averaging 22.8 points through the Bulldogs’ first four games. Boles connected on four of her nine 3-point attempts and added four points from the free-throw line. Boles’ 14 rebounds secured her second double-double of the season.
Lapel also got help on offense from sophomore Makynlee Taylor, who registered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 4 of 8 from the floor and got eight of her points from free throws.
Sophomore Delaney Peoples also pulled down 10 rebounds and had four points. Sophomore Morgan Knepp scored nine points on 3-of-4 shooting. She also had six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Bulldogs will play host to Frankton on Monday, Dec. 4. Junior varsity tip is set for 6 p.m.
