Arabians prod the Bears, escape with win

PENDLETON — After losing three of its first four games this season, Pendleton Heights has won three in a row to improve to 4-3.

The latest of those wins came in a 53-50 victory against Lawrence Central on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Pendleton Heights got off to a strong start and owned a 16-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but the Bears had come back by halftime to tie the game at 29-29.

The Arabians fell behind by the end of the third quarter, trailing 41-38, but outscored Lawrence Central 15-9 in the fourth to escape with a three-point victory.

The Arabians were led in the scoring column by senior Trent Miller, who finished with 25 points. He connected on five of his nine 3-point attempts and also had three rebounds.

Senior Justin Shupe also was in double digits with 13 points, and junior Damieon Warrum finished with seven. Junior Eli Pancol led PHHS with six rebounds.

After traveling to Hamilton Southeastern on Wednesday, Pendleton Heights will get a long break before going to Frankton on Jan. 2 to begin the Madison County Tournament.
