Deputies respond to threats at Frankton-Lapel administration building

ANDERSON — Madison County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Frankton-Lapel Schools Administration building Thursday morning on a report of threats.

“A 19-year-old student attending the district’s alternative school had made a comment to another student regarding having access to guns and plans to shoot up the school,” according to a press release emailed by Sheriff Scott Mellinger,

Deputies arrived and detained the student, who admitted to deputies he had made those statements, according to the press release.

Francisco Martinez- Hernandez of Anderson was arrested and has been preliminarily charged with Level 6 felony intimidation, according to the sheriff’s department. He was being held in the Madison County Detention Center on Thursday.

The suspect’s family was cooperative and deputies found no weapons at the suspect’s home, the press release stated.
