PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights varsity girls cheerleaders will compete at state finals Saturday after a top-notch performance in preliminary competition.

The Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) will play host to the 2018 Indiana Cheer Championship Varsity State Finals at New Castle High School on Nov. 3.

The Indiana Association of School Principals, Department of Student Programs, sponsors the Indiana Cheer Championship — a series of competitions exclusively for Indiana school cheerleaders.

The competition will feature 37 varsity cheerleading teams and 23 high school time-out teams competing for the first time.

The squads reached this weekend’s State Finals after scoring in the top 60 percent at the Indiana Cheer Championship Preliminary contest last week at Greenfield-Central High School.

State action begins at 10 a.m. with the high school time-out division teams. The varsity state finals, including the Arabians, will begin competition at 1:30 p.m.

The Arabians are scheduled to perform at 4:09 p.m. They’re part of the Varsity B group with teams from New Palestine, Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon and Bishop Dwenger High School.
