Pendleton Heights top 10 percent, Week 1

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School recognizes the Top 10 Percent of its graduating class each year.

There are 35 students in that group for the Class of 2019. The countdown starts this week with Nos. 28 to 35.

It will continue through several editions of The Times-Post.

• Chloe Closser is currently ranked No. 35 with a grade-point average of 10.92. She is the daughter of Jason and Mindy Closser. Chloe has been a member of National Beta Club, Spanish Club, National Spanish Honor Society, softball team, student council, steering committee and prom committee. She is class treasurer and wrestling manager. She has also been a member of Pendleton Emergency Ambulance rookie program, Anchors Away, Ecuador Service Learning Team, Gleaner’s Food Bank and Million Meals. Chloe plans to attend Anderson University and double major in nursing and Spanish while being a student-athlete in the softball program. She would like to become a pediatric nurse and work at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

• Colson Dunham is currently ranked No. 34 with a GPA of 10.94. He is the son of Jim and Christy Dunham. Cole has been a member of Best Buddies, French Club and played two years of basketball. He plans to attend Ball State University but is currently undecided on a major. Cole is interested in becoming a financial adviser.

• Blaise King is currently ranked No. 33 with a GPA of 11.02. He is the son of Tammy Whisnant and Gary King. Blaise has been a member of Spanish Club and National Honor Society. He also participated in track and field and cross country. Blaise plans to attend Indiana University to major in accounting.

• Lauren Grile is currently ranked No. 32 with a GPA of 11.0536. She is the daughter of Michelle Grile and Mark Grile. Lauren has been a member of Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Fine Arts Academic Team and Pendleton Players theater department. She also plays the piano and guitar and is a singer/songwriter. Lauren plans to attend Ball State University, where she will study music media production/music education. She would like to be a producer, music professor and musician.

• Allison Asbury is currently ranked No. 31 with a GPA of 11.0577. She is the daughter of Steve and Misty Asbury. Allison has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, National Spanish Honor Society, National French Honor Society and steering committee and played two years of volleyball. She also enjoys watching sports, helping her mom coach sixth-grade basketball, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. Allison plans to attend Indiana University in Bloomington to major in elementary education with specifics in teaching all learners — to teach all types of children. She also looks to major or minor in Spanish and minor in psychology. Allison wants to become a teacher or counselor.

• Corissa Reynolds is currently ranked No. 30 with a GPA of 11.0588. She is the daughter of Robert and Christina Reynolds. Corissa has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, Arabian Allies, Robotics and SADD and played two years of softball. She also played on travel softball — Cougars Fastpitch. Corissa plans to attend Vincennes University for two years, then transfer to Purdue University to study engineering science — environmental and ecological concentration. She would like to become an environmental engineer.

• Ryan Reed is currently ranked No. 29 with a GPA of 11.1132. He is the son of Robert and Melissa Reed. Ryan has been a member of National Beta Club, for which he was treasurer, National Honor Society, football, wrestling, GAPP, German Club and Quiz Bowl. He also enjoys boating, volunteering, biking, sports, history, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Ryan plans to attend Marian University to major in engineering and chemistry with a minor in German. He would like to further his education and earn his Ph.D. in chemical engineering. Ryan wants to be a chemical engineer and work for Eli Lilly or Roche.

• Shelby Vice is currently ranked No. 28 with a GPA of 11.1154. She is the daughter of David and Lisa Vice. She has been a member of National Beta Club, SADD and National French Honor Society and also tutors. Shelby plans to attend Ball State University to study nursing. She wants to become a neonatal nurse.
