Pendleton Heights top 10 percent, Week 2

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School recognizes the Top 10 Percent of its graduating class each year.

There are 35 students in that group for the Class of 2019. The countdown resumes this week with Nos. 21 to 27. It will continue through several editions of The Times-Post.

Cloey Griffin is ranked No. 27 with a grade-point average of 11.22. She is the daughter of Alex and Christiane Griffin. Griffin has been a member of National Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Pendleton Players theater, Outdoor Adventure Club and GAPP. She is also a member of Fall Creek Christian Church, Anchors Away and Friendship Bible Study, and she volunteers for East Elementary School, Fall Creek missions trips and SonRise Summer Camp. Griffin plans to attend Trine University, where she will major in mechanical engineering. She wants to become an engineer.

Madison Heiniger is ranked No. 26 with a GPA of 11.2885. She is the daughter of Tod and LeAnne Heiniger. Madison has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, SADD, French Club and Arabian Allies. She plays volleyball and tennis (one year each). She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, playing with her dogs and starting creative projects. Madison plans to attend Butler University to study psychology and pre-med. She wants to become a psychiatrist.

Joseph Pickett is ranked No. 25 with a GPA of 11.3922. He is the son of David Pickett and Ellen Finney Pickett. He has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, German Club, German American Partnership Program (GAPP) and Outdoor Adventure Club. He plays varsity soccer. He is also a member of Sporting Indiana Soccer Club and enjoys photography, writing, history and social studies. Pickett plans to attend the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University, where he will study international relations and diplomacy. He would like to work in the United Nations or the U.S. government.

Conner Cochran is ranked No. 24 with a GPA of 11.4314. He is the son of Chris and Tracy Cochran. He has been a member of National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, and the football team. He plans to attend Wabash College to major in mathematics and minor in computer science.

Brianna Jenkins is ranked No. 23 with a GPA of 11.4717. She is the daughter of Brent and Jennifer Jenkins. She has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, art club, Spanish Club, yearbook and FCCLA. She is undecided on which college to attend at this time.

Olivia Glover is ranked No. 22 with a GPA of 11.5. She is the daughter of Jim Glover and Kyra and Jay Burnett. Glover has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, National German Honor Society and choir (two years). She has played softball (two years) and been a cadet teacher, helping children who need it or just want to talk. She also bowls and is a youth leader at First United Methodist Church. Glover plans to attend Kent State to major in biochemistry and minor in German. She also hopes to study abroad. Glover wants to create new medicines and study how they affect the body.

Milan Jones is ranked No. 21 with a GPA of 11.54. He is the son of Kent and Shawnda Jones. He has been a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, cross country team, track and field team, band and Pendleton Players theater. He is Student Athletic Council secretary. Jones also enjoys reading, philosophy and spending time outside. He plans to attend Purdue University to study engineering. He wants to work in the business world and eventually get an MBA.
