Pendleton Heights High School Homecoming 2019

Pendleton Heights High School Student Council has organized another fabulous homecoming with a weekend full of activities.

Our 50th anniversary celebration began Wednesday, Sept. 11, with Homecoming Extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. at the football stadium.

The extravaganza included a spirited class competition, including tug-of-war, football toss, relay race and the annual Powder Puff football game between the junior and senior girls.

During the powder puff game, members of the football team coach their female classmates, and male cheerleaders cheer their favorite team from the sidelines.

On Friday, Sept. 13, all units in the Homecoming Parade will congregate at the Falls Park “circle” east of the Community Building between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival at the park, all units should check in with Cori Hunckler, Homecoming Parade coordinator, for parade line-up and instructions.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and wind through the park to Pendleton Avenue to State Street and out to the stadium.

The parade will include the Pendleton Heights High School Marching Arabians; high school, middle school and elementary clubs and athletic teams; cheerleaders; local junior soccer and football teams;the Madison County Shriners Desert Patrol; Scouts; homecoming queen candidates and princesses; class floats; fire trucks; churches; and many others.

Last year’s parade included about 80 units.

Another entry included in the parade again this year honors the silver anniversary team, managers, trainers and the homecoming queen candidates from the class of 1994-95.

Senior members of that team under 19th-year coach John Broughton were Bobby Sands, Damon Phillips, Dusty McCullum, Brody Stock, Seth Stanley, Paul Schnepp, Andy Green, Jason Manges and Anthony Smith.

The 1994 Homecoming Queen was Natalie Davis Clark.

For safety reasons, the Pendleton fire and police departments have requested candy be handed out (not thrown) to children along the parade route.

The Marching Arabians will perform a pre-game show, with the kickoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

The Arabians football team takes on the Greenfield-Central Cougars, with the winning float and homecoming queen announced at halftime.

The silver anniversary team and court will be introduced in front of the home stands to begin halftime ceremonies.

The homecoming dance will take place from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the Pendleton Heights main gym. Tickets cost $7 prior to Saturday and $10 the night of the event.

Neeley and Hunckler are Pendleton Heights Student Council sponsors who helped coordinate Pendleton Heights homecoming activities.
