PENDLETON

Mr. Gerald Lee Gardner, age 82, of Pendleton, Indiana formerly of Alexandria and Madison, Indiana entered this life on December 9, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois. He was the son of the late Fletcher Lloyd and Marie E. DeVries Gardner.

He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a 1956 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School in Madison, Indiana. He served in the United States Air Force and the Reserves for six years and was honorably discharged. Gerald was the owner of Central Carpet Store in Alexandria, Indiana since 1972 and enjoyed his many clients that he had worked with over the years. Gerald enjoyed his many trips back to Madison to be with his fellow high school graduates, friends and family.

He was known for being a great listener, friend and never spoke a bad word about anyone, after all we are “all just people”. He took time for everyone (even strangers) and you felt better when you left him. He loved music and knew every word to every song and made up a few of his only silly ones. He was honest, hardworking, ornery and clever. He handed out suckers to construction workers and tipped fast food employees. He always took the long way home so he could enjoy the ride. He loved life and people and they loved him back.

Gerald died on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 5:33 a.m. at his home in Pendleton, Indiana with his loving girlfriend (Robin Love) at his side. Gerald will be missed by his loving companion of 15 years Robin Love of Pendleton, Indiana; his daughter, Tina Marie Uccello and her husband Keith Uccello of Pendleton, Indiana; his grandchildren, Louis Uccello and Vincent Uccello; his nieces and nephews (Mike, Robin, Susie, Peggy, Debby, Joe and Steve) and other relatives.
