PAS announces visual art winners

PENDLETON — Winners of South Madison Visual Arts Exhibit were announced recently at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.

Judge for the event was Diane Burrell.

Winners were: First place, Rita Geesaman for her painting “Haiti Women” and runner-up, Ellen Shaw for “Wrapped In Gold Bracelet.

People’s Choice, which is voted on by those at the show opening, was Don Saxon with “Lift Off.”

The exhibit will remain open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays through Sept. 30 at the gallery, 119 W. State St.

The exhibit, which represents artwork by residents from Fall Creek, Stony Creek, Adams and Green townships, was made possible through the South Madison Community Foundation Arts Fund.

The fund was established by the children of Robert E. and Vinetta A. Wills, in honor of their mother, Vinetta Aiman Wills.

The purpose of the fund is to recognize persons with artistic talent through monetary reward and public recognition.
