A season long on youth and excitement came to a conclusion as the last five Arabian wrestlers pursuing a berth in the state finals lost their first round semi-state matches Saturday, Feb. 9, and were eliminated from the state tournament.
Freshman standout Tyler Flood, wrestling at 106 pounds, dropped a 6-5 decision. The match was close until the end and Flood came close to scoring the winning takedown but was unable to secure the score. He finished his season at 22-5.
Jeremiah Roosa dropped his first round match at 113 pounds. The junior finished his season with a record of 16-10. Wes Robinson lost his first round match by a decision. The junior finished the season with a record of 25-12. Sophomore Travis Gooding dropped a 4-0 decision in his first round match. Gooding wrestled well and closed the year with a record of 20-7. Fellow sophomore Spencer McCool also dropped a first round decision to finish with a 35-9 season total.
