Lapel - Lapel boys basketball coach Jimmie Howell is approaching a career milestone, as he is five wins shy of 500.
However, Howell is more concerned about seeing improvement with his ball club and getting through a minefield of a schedule with a team that is much different that last year’s 17-5 squad.
“The first week of practice was very good, but the second week of practice wasn’t good,” said Howell, in his ninth season at Lapel and 32nd as a head coach. “We’ve got to get better defensively and we’ve got to rebound the ball better.”
