Pendleton - A popular Mexican restaurant had its door smashed in and about $400 stolen late Monday night, according to the Pendleton police.
“On Feb. 12, at approximately 3:15 a.m., I was on patrol and noticed the door of the Hacienda Vieja was shattered,” PPD Patrolman Josh Blake said in the filed police report. “I conducted a building search and noticed the cabinet where the cash register normally sits had been moved and the area was in disarray.”
PPD Chief Farrer said the break-in was similar to several others committed in Madison County that same evening.
“It was a smash and grab job,” Farrer said. “There were three other instances in Anderson with the MO.”
Farrer said the other locations were small business and restaurants.
“Three other businesses in the Anderson area were also victims of burglary during the same time frame,” Blake said.
