Pendleton - Being the coach of a freshmen basketball team presents a different set of challenges than that of a varsity coach. Not only are you part of the varsity and junior varsity program, but you also can lose a player at any time to the varsity or JV team.
Adam Ritz accepted the freshman challenge and guided his team to an 8-8 record this season.
Ritz himself is a Pendleton Heights graduate and began his coaching career at the middle school level while he was still in college. He served as a volunteer assistant in 2006-07, spent time coaching in Florida and eventually made his way back to his hometown after a stint as the junior varsity assistant coach at Muncie Burris High.
