Chicken and noodle meal
A chicken and noodle dinner is scheduled for 5-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at Lapel High School.
Sponsored by the Students to England 2013, the meal will take place in the LHS commons area.
Adult ticket price is $7 and student price is $3.
The meal will include chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and a drink.
Desserts will also be available for purchase for $1.50.
This meal will take place before the boys high school basketball games with Speedway High School.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from any participating junior at LHS. Tickets will also be available at the door.
If the basketball game would be postponed for any reason, the meal will be rescheduled for the same night that the basketball game is rescheduled.
Library runs reading program
“Pop Open a Good Book!” a children’s reading program, will be offered at the Lapel Public Library through February.
Children can sign up at the library to read 300 minutes to earn a book and two other prizes.
Register online at andersonlibrary.net through Feb. 28. After registering, children up to age 12 can track their minutes online.
Prizes are available at the Lapel Branch Library while supplies last.
All prizes must be claimed by March 8.

Senior Café offers food, games
The Pendleton Senior Café is offered at noon every Tuesday and Wednesday at the Pendleton library for seniors 60 and older for a donation.
Bingo follows each meal. People must register by noon Mondays by calling the library at (765) 778-7527.

County vote center meeting
The Madison County Election Board will conduct a meeting at 2 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Government Center, Room 110.
Literacy event aimed at ages 3-5
Born Learning of Madison County is hosting another free literacy event for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds and their families.
The time will include stories, songs, activities and other fun.
People are invited to attend one of the following event:
Thursday, Feb. 21 at East Elementary School
The evenings will start at 6:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Each family in attendance will leave with free books and activities to do at home.
Born Learning is funded by United Way of Madison County and provides many types of support to families and caregivers at no cost.
The goal is to ensure all children enter kindergarten ready to learn.
This is the third Born Learning event this school year, with one more in the series to be held in March.
Optimist seeks volleyball players
The Lapel Optimist Little League Volleyball signups will run until Friday, Feb. 15 for all Lapel third-through sixth-graders.

Jazz fest planned for PHHS Feb. 16
Pendleton Heights High School is set to play host to its annual Jazz Festival and all of the shows prior to 6 p.m. are at no charge.

The lineup includes Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Marion, Hamilton, Johnson and Boone county bands.
Eric Marienthal will be performing with the Honors Band and the Director’s Jazz Orchestra.

PYSA conducts soccer signup
The Pendleton Youth Soccer Association is offering online and walk-in registration for the spring 2013 season.
PYSA is open to players living in Pendleton and other surrounding areas.
Visit www.PendletonFC.org to register online, paying by credit card, check or money order.
Walk-in registration will take place from 9 a.m.- noon Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Pendleton Community Library.
PYSA provides recreational soccer opportunities for boys and girls ages 3 -16.
Registration fees are: $50 for Micro Kickers (ages 3 and 4–born 8/1/08-7/31/09); $75 for Rec (ages 4-10–born 8/1/02-7/31/08); and $110 for Rec Plus (ages 10-16–born on/before 7/31/02).
New Rec Plus players also have a uniform cost of $40.
Volunteer coaches are also needed.
Micro Kickers and Rec practices and games are held at Maple Ridge Elementary School, located on the west side of Pendleton, near Ingalls.
Rec Plus teams travel locally to play games, but practice at Maple Ridge Elementary.
The spring 2013 season runs from about April 13 through May 18.
Registration closes Feb. 28.
Church presents dessert comedy
“The Funny Thing About Love…” is a dessert comedy night sponsored by North Christian Church of Markleville and scheduled for 7 p.m.
The evening will include music, dessert and comedy.
The performers will look at some of the funnier things about relationships through funny skits and a live episode of “The OldyWed Game.”
Reserved seats are available by calling 765-533-4463.
The event is open to the public. There is no charge.
