Trinity UMC ready to JAM


The next Trinity United Methodist Church Jesus and Me team Family Worship Experience is scheduled for 6:45 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20.

JAM, which meets at the church,  217 E. Seventh St., Lapel, is an after-school program for children in kindergarten to fifth grade who enjoy singing, dancing, acting and creating.

The children who attend JAM give the message through skits and song at a Family Worship Experience once a month.  

Bell ringers welcome


Steve and Annie Wills will again be scheduling bell ringers at the local Marsh store for the Salvation Army.

Salvation Army seeks names


The Salvation Army will be at the Pendleton Community Public Library to take applications for Christmas assistance from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.

Those who want assistance must complete an application and will need the following for their appointment: Picture ID; proof of address (mail); a Social Security card, birth certificate or Medicaid card for all household members; and Food Stamp Card or Medicaid Card to prove income (those not qualified for one of these programs must provide proof of income for the past 30 days and all bills they pay monthly).

Senior domino tourney Nov. 22


The Pendleton Community Public Library conducts a senior train dominoes tournament from 1 to 4 p.m. on the fourth Friday each month in the Community Room.  For more information, call Carrie Wilson at 765-354-2278. The event is open to the public. The next tournament is Friday, Nov. 22.

Legion arts, craft show Saturday


The Pendleton American Legion Post 117 is hosting an Arts and Crafts Show 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

Adult prom set for Nov. 23


The Bless Boston 65 Roses Adult Prom is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Blu Falls Arts and Event Center in Pendleton. There will be dinner, drinks, live music and dancing.

The event benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m., raffle winners announced at 10:30 p.m., and the king and queen crowned at 11 p.m.

Facility seeks officer trainees


The Pendleton Correctional Facility Indiana Reformatory will conduct a job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at PCF/IR Training Center.

Fire station to collect funds Nov. 26


The Lapel Fire Station will be collecting monetary donations around town on the evening of Nov. 26 or anyone wanting to give can drop off donations at the fire station.

Lapel library plans ‘Book Camp’


Children 12 and younger are invited to visit the Anderson Public Library Children’s Department or the Lapel Branch Library to enlist in Book Camp until Nov. 30.

To complete the Book Camp program, children will pick out a free paperback book to take home, read the book, rate it 1 to 5 stars, and hang their star or review in the bivouac area.

Children who complete the reading program will receive a food voucher courtesy of Skyline Chili.
