Volunteer bell ringers needed


The Salvation Army is need of bell-ringers in the Pendleton area during the holiday season.

Any individuals or families in the community that would like to schedule a time slot to ring bells outside Marsh in Pendleton can call 765-778-2002, 765-425-1866 or 765-425-2915.

Senior Café offers food, games


LifeStream services and the Pendleton Community Public Library conduct the Pendleton Senior Café at noon Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Pendleton Community Public Library, 595 E. Water St., Pendleton.

Seniors 60 and older are welcomed to eat a hot, healthy meal for a suggested donation of $3.50.

After each meal, seniors may enjoy a rousing game of Bingo.

Please remember to RSVP for each meal at least 24 hours in advance.

Call the library at 765-778-7527 to reserve a place.

Wednesday, Nov. 28 - Western Goulash, Broccoli, Creamed Corn, Saltine Crackers and Sugar Cookies.

Tuesday Dec. 4 - Chili with crackers, scalloped apples, spinach and citrus mold.

Wednesday, Dec 5 - Barbecue ribs, slaw, corn and pineapple crisp.

PHMS theater presents Christmas show


The Pendleton Heights Middle School theater department will present “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” at 7 p.m. Nov. 29-30 at PHMS.

Tickets prices are $5 for those 12 and older and $3 for those 11 and younger.

The drama students also will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items from now until the end of November.

There will also be a bake sale after both performances.

All money will go to a local food pantry.

AMVETS offers steak dinners


The Pendleton AMVETS Post 26 will be serving steak dinners from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, and an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

The events are open to the public but people must be 18 or older to enter the Post.

Youth commission plans movie night


The South Madison Youth Commission will play host to a movie night featuring “Despicable Me” Nov. 30 at Pendleton Heights High School.  

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie will start at 6:30pm.

Admission is free and concessions will be available.

People should bring in a package of men’s socks, granola bars or puzzle book for troops’ care packages and receive a popcorn.

ADK 27 offers Santa breakfast


The Alpha Delta Kappa group will host a Santa Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Pendleton Heights Middle School cafeteria.

This family tradition started 27 years ago is open to the public.

There will be a pancake breakfast and visits with Santa, a holiday raffle for a Meijer gift card and a holiday handmade gift boutique to for shopping.

The cost is $3 per child and $5 per adult. Proceeds will go to the Alpha Delta Kappa Ruth Manifold scholarship, which is awarded to a PHHS senior planning to pursue a career in education.

Santa breakfast set for Blu Falls


Santa’s Breakfast will take place at Blu Falls in Pendleton from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

Eggs, pancakes, sausage and fixings.

There will be pictures with Santa and Mrs. Clause, holiday cupcake decorating, storytime, magic and balloon animals, horse and carriage rides.

There is no admission charge for those 2 and younger are free, while the cost for those aged 3 to 17 is $7 and 18 and older $10.

People may donate a canned good and receive $2 off admission (one can per person per ticket).

Christmas event set for Saturday


The Annual Christmas in Markleville is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Hardy Building in the center of town.

Start time is 10 a.m. Santa will be at the festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to hear children’s wishes.

There will be vendors who will have lost of Christmas and home made items.

The Lions Club will have chili and all the fixings for a free-will offering.

Church conducts fall festival


Daybreak Community Church in Lapel is having its second Annual Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

Vendor and craft booths plus bake sale items will be available.

Also, homemade apple dumplings will be available.

Breakfast sandwiches served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and a chicken and noodle lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Daybreak Church is located at 1219 N. Main St., Lapel.

Chili supper to help post prom


The Pendleton Heights High School 2014 Jr. Post Prom Committee is conducting a Chili Supper from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 in the PHHS cafeteria.

The cost is $3 for children and $6 for adults.

Meals include a bowl of chili, peanut butter sandwich, desert and drink.

To-go orders will be available.

All proceeds support the 2014 Jr. Post Prom Committee.
