Pendleton - Track and field sectional and Pendleton Heights girls have become synonymous lately as the Arabians added their third consecutive sectional title Tuesday, May 14 at the PHHS stadium completing again the triple crown of titles, county, conference and sectional.

“I’m excited,” head coach Melissa Hagerman said. “I am extremely proud of the girls. They come on at the right time. They pulled together as a team.”

Once again, Kiawna Cottrell, the “Iron Woman” of the asphalt, swept her four events, the 100, 200 and 400 meters, and the long jump, setting a sectional meet record in the 400 meters with a time of 58.34. She turned in a 12.61 in the 100 meters and a 26.40 in the 200 meters. Her long jump of 17-feet-2-inches was two inches longer than her record setting HHC jump. She was nearly two feet beyond her second-place competitor, fellow Arabian Tristan VanNatta, who placed second with a 15’10”.
