Madison County - The Madison County Sheriff’s Department sent out a press release at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9 saying there has been a disruption with 911 calls.

“We wanted to inform the public and media, there has been a disruption with the 911 phone lines for the Madison County Dispatch Center,” Sheriff Ron Richardson said in the release. “We have been informed by the phone provider this is a regional issue and they are working on it.”

Richardson also said that 911 calls could still be received, but to do so had to be rerouted to another call center.

“911 calls are being routed to another 911 Dispatch Center so all calls may be handled to meet the needs of our citizens.” Richardson said in the release. “The calls being routed to another center is part of an emergency plan that has been in place for some time.”

No word on when the Madison County Dispatch Center would be back up and running.
