Lapel - The district’s successful preschool program, security advancements and a short discussion of the school calendar gave the Frankton-Lapel School Board plenty to talk about at the board meeting last week.
The Age 4 preschool program that started several years ago at Frankton-Lapel Community Schools was supposed to fund itself because students are required to pay to attend. The price is about $12 per day, or $2,160 for the school year.
“Twelve dollars a day is not much for preschool,” Superintendent Bobby Fields said.
Students also have the option of attending the preschool program at half the cost for half the day.
Last school year, the cost to run the program reached about $142,000 but only brought in $138,537. The school operated the program at a net loss of $3,563.
