Former Bulldog standout to coach Caston basketball

Lapel - In 2005, when the Lapel High School Bulldogs won the IHSAA Class A state basketball championship, J.R. Howell was named the MVP of that game.

Coached by his father, Jimmie Howell, J.R. has turned many basketball experiences, from playing to coaching, into a head coaching position at Caston High School in Fulton, Ind.

According to J.R., Caston has many similarities to Lapel.

“I think the small community was a big part of why I came down,” J.R said. “But also the rich history that Caston has had in basketball.”
