Ingalls - After months of courtship, Love’s Travel Stops has finally received the approval it was seeking from the Ingalls Town Council.
At a special meeting Tuesday, June 18, the council unanimously approved Love’s request to build off Interstate 69 near Exit 214 (Ind. 13).
The special meeting took place directly after an Ingalls Planning Commission meeting during which commission members also gave their final unanimous OK to the project.
Ingalls Treasurer Kip Golden confirmed that both boards came to unanimous decisions. He said about 10 residents from Summerlake, a residential development near the new truck stop site, attended the council meeting. Some Summerlake residents have long contested the construction of a truck stop so close to their homes.
“We held the meetings on Tuesday because we wanted to let Summerlake be involved,” Golden said. “We wanted to give them the chance to voice their final opinions before we made our decision.”
