Ingalls - The Ingalls Volunteer Fire Department and its ladies auxiliary will give the community a chance to get up close with the department and learn some fire safety tips at the communities first Public Safety Day Block Party.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 22 at the Ingalls Fire Station, 234 N. Meridian St. It will include activities for adults and children, and will aim to increase awareness about what the fire department does, according to organizer and Ladies Auxiliary President Rachel Boat.
“We wanted to have a block party and Chief Josh (Caudill) decided to make it into a public safety day,” she said. “A lot of it is the auxiliary but the department has done their share. It’s a joint effort.”
While the party will serve as a fundraiser for the department, it has been designed primarily to raise awareness and get the community involved, and make sure all the kids know to stop, drop and roll.
