PENDLETON – An inmate at the Pendleton Correctional Facility (PCF) was caught on the roof of the facility’s Administration Building at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Philip Littler, 28, who is serving a 45 year sentence for murder, has been incarcerated at PCF since Feb. 18, 2013.

“During a routine security check, staff observed offender Littler missing from his cell,” Superintendent Dushan Zatecky said in a press release.

“The quick thinking and reaction of staff stationed in the cell house and perimeter resulted in the apprehension of offender Littler. My appreciation goes out to all staff who were involved in this (Wednesday) morning’s incident and I would like to commend our staff for the work they do on a daily basis. At no time was the nearby community at risk during the incident.”

Littler was sentenced out of St. Joseph County and had an earliest possible release date of Nov. 4, 2030.

The incident is currently under investigation by facility Internal Affairs Correctional Police Officers.
