The Pendleton Heights Junior Varsity football team posted a come-from-behind 22-14 win at Greenfield to conclude its season 7-2.
After falling behind 6-0 vs. Greenfield, the Arabians scored a touchdown on a 75-yard run by Ashton Wilson.
The two-point attempt failed and the score was tied 6-6.
A subsequent scoring drive by the Arabians stalled and the scored remained tied at the half.
After an exchange of punts in the third quarter, the Arabians again had the Cougars trapped deep in their own end. An errant punt snap by the Cougars resulted in a two-point safety and a free kick to the Arabians. On the ensuing drive, Jarred Hubble found running back Chase Cochran open for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Christian Gonzalez kicked the extra point for the Arabians to push their advantage to 15-6.
A misplayed punt by the Arabians allowed the Cougars to score a quick touchdown and a two-point conversion early in the fourth quarter brought the score to 15-14 with eight minutes left to play.
Wilson again capped an Arabian drive when he sprinted through the Greenfield defense for a 50-yard touchdown. This put the Arabians up 22-14 with less than five minutes to play.
Greenfield’s final drive saw the Cougars with four downs inside the Arabian 10-yard line. The Arabian defense put up a ferocious goal line stand and PH took over on downs with less than 30 seconds left. A kneel down by the Arabians concluded the game and the Arabians celebrated their seventh win of the season.
