Pendleton - The popular June Jamboree, organized by the Pendleton Lions Club now for 48 years, returns this week for rides, food, games and more at Falls Park. The event will take place from Tuesday, June 3 through Saturday, June 7. “Family Time,” in which rides will cost only one ticket, will take place from 1- 5 p.m. Saturday.
The June Jamboree opens at 5 p.m. daily through Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. It will close at 10 p.m. each day. Tickets are available for $15 a sheet, which includes 16 tickets, at Pendleton Travel Co. Ride bracelets will not be available at the Jamboree. Tickets can be purchased in advance from a Pendleton Lions Club member, at Pendleton Travel Co. or at the booth at the Marsh Plaza.
Luehrs’ Ideal Rides will again be providing rides and entertainment, continuing a relationship with the Lions Club and the jamboree that reaches all the way back to the very first June Jamboree.
Familiar Luehrs’ favorites will return, but new attractions such as the Surfer Train Ride will give children even more to do this year. Recognizable attractions such as the Egyptian-themed “Pharaoh’s Fury” swinging ship will return, as will the spinning “Himalayan.” Parents can take their group in a race down the “Super Fun Slide,” and the entire family can enjoy a mind-bending trek through the “Magic Maze Glass House.” Children’s favorites such as the “Starship, Super Sizzler” and the “Jungle Twist” are also returning.
The Pendleton Lions Club is furnishing ticket sellers and volunteers who help make the event a success. The club will sponsor things such as the manufacturer’s tent, exhibitions and space available for rent at the jamboree.
This year, the Lions Club will be selling advance ride tickets, 16 for $15. During the event, the cost is $1.25 per ticket or 22 tickets for $25.
One of the primary attractions, the food on the midway, will be available along with summertime treats. Visitors can cool off and enjoy delicious frozen lemonade or a sweet ice cream cone. The classic café will keep toes tapping to sounds of the ’60s while patrons indulge in a fresh hot sausage piled high with onions. The Classic Bakery will once again offer elephant ears or a funnel cake topped with strawberries and Bavarian cream. The food is based on family recipes and fried in zero trans fat oil.
