Pendleton - After a 25-year absence, the Pendleton Heights girls cross country team returned to the state meet at the LaVerne Gibson course in Terre Haute Saturday, Nov. 2.
Alex Buck was the top finisher for the Arabians. She came in 19th after having maintained a Top 10 position throughout most of the race.
“She gave it her all,” coach Melissa Hagerman said. “She had a great time and a great place. It is exciting you have a sophomore who is hungry to come back next year.”
Buck was all smiles once the race was over.
“It was crazy. It was definitely a neat experience. I love being able to run with so many other extremely talented girls. It was definitely a blast, especially running here with my team makes it even better.”
Buck added that the experience gave her and her team some insight for next year.
“I think it made all of us realize our strengths and weaknesses on the course here. I think next year we are going to come back and be tougher.”
