Pendleton - With a new coach and a myriad of injuries, the Pendleton Heights Arabian girls basketball team has started their season with a bang, getting two wins in as many games.

The Arabians thumped the visiting Muncie Central Saturday, Nov. 10, 54-30 with senior Kenzie Gustin scoring a career high 36 points. The Arabians defense put the Bearcats in a situation where they had 33 turnovers and scored just seven points in one quarter.

On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the Arabians opened the season at home with a win against New Castle 51-38. The visiting Trojans kept the pace through three quarters, but a halftime change of defense really allowed the Arabians to keep the New Castle from getting any edge.

“We play to strengths and weaknesses, and the change in defense made a difference,” coach Holly Hollinger-Gutierrez said.
