LAPEL – The Lapel Town Council voted 4-1 to approve an annexation ordinance for nearly 5,700 acres of land south of town at its regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, Aug. 7.
The annexation area runs south of town limits to CR 700 South. The western boundary is CR 1000 West, and the eastern boundary is between CR 700 West and CR 800 West.
In July, residents appeared at a council meeting asking how the annexation would impact their tax rates and what the cost would be for those residents to be added to public utilities. The council told people to return to the Aug. 7 meeting and Councilman Tim Munro would have more answers.
