Lapel - The Lapel Town Council adopted an ordinance Feb. 21 that will establish a five-member board for a Parks and Recreation Department.
The ordinance was proposed to bring the Town of Lapel in line with Indiana codes and clear the path for Lapel to apply for grants and loans to develop the recreation system. The proposal includes a five-year plan with priority being the installation of a splash pad in Lapel parks.
Town Councilman Clay Parkison said they haven’t made a decision on the location of the splash pad yet, but the area will need to include a building to house the restrooms and pump units.
