Lapel - Lapel’s Class 2A fourth-ranked Lady Bulldogs took third place in the Madison County Tournament, and went on to defeat a 12-win team to get to 12 itself.

The Bulldogs fell 62-51 at Elwood in a semifinal Monday, Jan. 13. Kirsten Rich led Lapel with 11 points, four assists and three steals, while Mackenzie Boles added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lapel beat Alexandria 55-49 in the third-place game Tuesday, Jan. 14. Boles scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Natalia Campbell added 15 points.

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the Bulldogs downed potential sectional opponent Shenandoah 60-42 at home.

Lapel (12-2) broke open a tight game with an 18-7 second quarter to go up 29-17 at the half.

Rich paced a balanced Bulldog attack with 13 points, with Kaitlyn Dobbins adding 12 (all on 3-point shots) and Campbell 11.

The Bulldogs visited Tri-Central Monday, Jan. 20, and are at Class 2A-No. 6 Triton Central Saturday, Jan. 25 in an Indiana Crossroads Conference contest.
