Lapel - The Town of Lapel is offering special payment plans to residents who fell behind on bills because of the extreme weather this winter.
“We’ve just experienced an extraordinary winter,” Clerk-Treasurer Tom Tudor said. “We’ve set records (with) temperatures and snowfall.”
He said because so many bills were higher than normal, some residents have fallen behind. Now the town is offering special payment plans for those who need to get caught up.
“This agreement was approved by the town council a few years back,” Tudor said. “The customer must pay at least 50 percent of the current bill, and then we can set up monthly payments on the unpaid amount spread out over three months.”
