Lapel - The Lapel Town Council approved the purchase of used asphalt equipment prior to discussing upcoming road work during the June 19 meeting.
Utility Manager Marlin Johnson said town employees in the past have borrowed a asphalt hot box from the Indiana Department of Transportation or used cold patch to fix potholes and repair roads; however, the borrowed equipment is not always available, and cold patching is a temporary solution.
He said Noblesville was selling a used hot box for $10,000 after purchasing a new one for $47,000.
