Lapel - An $80,000 grant from Madison County Council food and beverage tax funds will be used to build a splash park in Lapel.
Lapel Town Council President Gary Shuck reported to fellow councilmen during the Jan. 3 meeting that an $80,000 request from the county coffers was approved.
“They decided the money would be used this year to fund projects rather than operating funds,” Shuck said.
Lapel asked for money for the splash park and to build sidewalks to the new high school on the northeast side of town.
“They gave us $80,000 for the Splash Park and $5,000 for the sidewalks,” Shuck said.
