Lapel - The recently completed storm water system in Lapel was put to the test the previous few weeks as was the town’s new utility/street superintendent.
Town Council President Gary Shuck said John M. Johnson was on the job throughout the weekend of Jan. 12 when complaints of backed up drains started coming in.
“One manhole has a 55-gallon drum in it. We don’t know how it got in and we don’t know how we’re going to get it out,” Shuck said.
Other drains were clogged with Styrofoam cups and other debris.
