Lapel softball beats ICC foe, girls tennis drops two

Lapel - Lapel continued to struggle defensively last week, allowing 42 runs in a three-game stretch that saw the Bulldogs win one.

The Bulldogs victory was 15-14 against Indiana Crossroads Conference rival Cardinal Ritter at home Thursday, April 25, as Lapel scored in the last of the seventh to break a 14-all tie. Katelyn Willis had four hits and three RBI for the Bulldogs, and Kirsten Rich and McKenzie Land also got three hits. Willis pitched a complete game and got the win.

On Friday, April 26, Lapel lost to Alexandria 16-8, as the Bulldogs gave up six runs in the sixth and three the next inning after the score was tied at 7. Land led Lapel with three hits.

Lapel dropped a 12-10 decision to Beech Grove in a conference game Saturday, April 27. Rich went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, and Hannah Harless added a two-run homer.

The Bulldogs (4-4, 1-1 ICC) have given up 10 or more runs in six games.

Lapel was to play at Speedway Monday, April 29 and at home against Triton Central Tuesday, April 30 (both conference games), and against Madison-Grant Wednesday, May 1. The Bulldogs have doubleheaders scheduled at Knightstown Thursday, May 1 and at Eastern Hancock Saturday, May 4.
