Lapel softball has winning first week of play

Lapel - Lapel’s softball team won three of five games last week and finished sixth in the Madison County Tournament.

The Bulldogs (3-5) fell 7-3 to Elwood in the first round Wednesday, April 16. Elwood used a four-run second inning to help put it away. Kirsten Rich had two hits, including a triple, for Lapel.

Lapel came back the next day to beat Anderson Prep Academy 14-2 in five innings, in the consolation bracket. Brooke Daniels struck out 12, Rich and Emily Cline both hit two-run homers, and MaKenzie McGuire and Daniele Burnell both had two hits.
