Lapel trio competes at semi-state
Lapel brought three underclass runners to Fort Wayne Saturday, Oct. 26, for their first IHSAA semi-state meet.
Freshman Logan Bradley finished 106th of 177 competitors, with a time of 17:36 for 5,000 meters. Junior Noah Hendershot was 114th, at 17:41.
Sophomore Mandie Flora ran 118th in her race, at 21:24.
“The times (for the boys) were pretty fair for what they’ve been running all year,” Lapel coach Darrell Richardson said. “Mandie’s time was a little slow (Saturday), but it still was a good experience for the kids.”
The three qualified for the semi-state by being among the top 10 in the Delta regional Saturday, Oct. 19, from schools did not advance as teams.
“It was the third straight year the boys and girls ran in the regional as a team,” Richardson said. “We were hoping to get the girls out, but we found out that we don’t run very well in cold weather.”
All seven of Lapel’s top girls runners are due back next year, along with five on the boys side.
