Lapel’s Tanner a medalist at ICC meet

Lapel finished sixth in Peru’s Rock Hollow invitational Saturday, May 18, carding 342 strokes.

Caleb Brown paced the Bulldogs with an 82. Tanner Watkins shot 84, Mitchell Richardson 86 and Zach Campbell 90.

Tanner Watkins was medalist Saturday, May 11, in the Indiana Crossroads Conference meet, shooting 74. The Bulldogs finished second with 319 strokes, 14 behind winner Park Tudor.

Bulldogs girls tennis season ends at sectional

Lapel’s season came to an end Wednesday, May 15, when it lost to Alexandria 4-1 in the first round of the Anderson sectional. The Bulldogs ended 11-7.

Senior Katie Boldman at No. 3 singles was Lapel’s lone winner, 6-4, 6-3 against Hannah Libler. Boldman finished the year 13-3.

At No. 1 singles, sophomore Lexi Allen (9-8) fell to Sarah-Kate Brenner 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, and at No. 2 singles, junior Bailee Scribner (11-6) fell to Abby Matthew 6-2, 6-2.

The Bulldogs’ No. 1 doubles team of senior Meg Fields (13-4) and sophomore Rachel Thalls (9-6) were defeated by Allie Hueston and Abbie Miller 6-1, 6-2, and at No. 2 doubles junior Kaitlyn Dobbins (12-6) and freshman Rachel Cherry (12-4) fell to Sarah Kelly and Danielle Maynard 6-3, 5-7,6-4.
