This is a letter to express my gratitude to the committee who worked on the Pendleton Artists’ Society’s (PAS) wonderful first-anniversary celebration and fundraiser. Hats off to the community who help make the evening such a success.
PAS knows how to throw a party. The fundraiser “Art from the Heart” held at Blu Falls Arts and Events Center on Valentine’s Day was truly wonderful. The organization not only attracted a big crowd on a night that was cold and snowy but everyone had a great time. The “Art from the Heart” evening was filled with unexpected pleasures. In addition to the delicious dinner and music provided by local disc jokey Jim Noggle, we were treated to free photographs from Sassy Smiles Photo Booth and PAS member Brenda Jarrett as well as a caricature drawings from artist Duane King. The highlight of the evening was the silent art auction. The PAS members donated a wealth of art to the sale which not only benefited the organization but was a delight to see the creativity involved.
I urge everyone in the community to attend the upcoming PAS monthly First Friday events at their gallery located at the corner of Main and Water. Going forward, on the first Friday of each month PAS will open the doors of the gallery from 5-8 pm so the public can enjoy art created from a variety of mediums including oil painting, metal work, photography, basket weaving, and much more. Join me at the initial First Friday on March 7 at the PAS gallery and best of all the event is free!
