Lapel - Taking a page out of a 20-year tradition from the Boy Scouts, several area groups got together in Lapel during the weekend and helped gather close to 1,000 pounds of food for a local food pantry.
Assistant Boy Scout Master Rick Champney said there were more than 80 volunteers walking door to door on Saturday, Dec. 8.
“The event just went really well,” Champney said. “We got 925 pounds of food from those who donated and that has already been dropped off at the food pantry.”
